I am having problems getting voicemail to email forwarding on Mitel 5000,with 3.2 software using BVM.

I am trying to use google mail

Will this work or does the email server have to be exchange server?

the error always seems to be smtp connection timed out when attempting to send emails from the mitel 5000.

any suggestions would be most appreciated.

You can only use a single account to generate an email. I would be willing to bet that google mail views this as a relayed message and has it blocked.

G-mail is special. They use authentication and SSL. See this G-mail URL for help: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78775

I thought Enterprise Messaging, VPU and Nupoint only provides Unified Messaging. BVM is like the EVMC w/ basic VM

BVM will do VM to e-mail without any problem just a little tempermental, has to use SMTP, no SSL, no secure socket,
