InterTel Axxess v8.1
We are contemplating the use of a third-party fax service. We want to use our existing DIDs for fax numbers and route the calls out to the new fax numbers provided by the service. So, if someone calls one of our published DID fax numbers, it would route the call to the number provided by the fax service. The DIDs we will be using are not currently in use.
I am not sure how I would set this up in DB Studio. I know I would have to modify the call routing tables (probably Ring-In Destination) for those extensions affected, but what else do I need to modify? How do I program the external numbers and is there anything else I am overlooking? TIA

See if your carrier will redirect those DIDs in their switch to the toll free number given to you by your fax service (such as MyFax). Most carriers will do that for free or a small fee.
Forwarding will not work. That is a conference, in line, outdial line. Very unlikely a fax will do through. I could be wrong.

If you have an available DKSC port (digital) then you can manually forward that ext to the number that you want. Then in the Call routing table point the DID to the forwarded ext. System forwarding will not work but manual forwarding does. There are other options if you don't have an available port. But I would be typing a book. Contact me for further info.

I'm not sure I would do a internal forward for faxing, maybe for a voice call but I think the faxes would have intermitten issues that could drive you crazy. Randy

I agree with MV, you can end up with serious problems due to PRI latency and you would be eating up two lines for every single fax call. It would be best to call the carrier to have them forward the DID number to the new number.
Thanks
