So here is the scoop :
We purchased an Axxess system from a company that went out of business. They had four incoming lines ... we have four incoming lines. Should be as simple as punching down the lines and stations and then using one of the stations to reprogram voicemail, etc. BUT ... when I did this, I got nothing on the stations (no display). The phone system I'm replacing is a Meridian Norstar. The build-out of the Axxess System is as follows :
Power 550.0121
Slot-1 DKSC16+ Station Card
Slot-6 LSC Loop Card
Slot-7 EVMC 550.5030 AJ Voice Mail Card
CPC 550.2030 AZ Processor Card

All Cards go green after power-up.
This is the first install I have done of an Inter-tel Axxess and I saw someones post about using the outer pair ... please tell me this is not the issue.

Inter-Tel is known for being "different" on wiring. I don't recall much about cabling on Meridian, but I'd bet money it's different. I will tell you that Inter-Tel is pretty much different than every other system out there, and techs who install different systems every day can have trouble with these.

You may want to disconnect all station wiring and try connecting a phone at the backboard to make sure you haven't blown anything. You also REALLY need a manual.

As for the wiring, yes the Access does use the orange pair.

Yeah, and the fact that you need database programming on a laptop to program the system.

Yeah .. started working on it again about 6 hours ago ... my issue was the orange pair ... just about to start reprogramming ... now as I understand it, most of the programming can be done from a handset ... Jeff mentioned database programming from a laptop ... what are the connection specs ?? or do I need software ?? If so, no software came with the system .. just the system admin manual ... Where would I find the software??

Actually very little programming can be done from a handset you will need Database Programming to program the system. It is specialized software from Inter-Tel (sorry Mitel now). In order to get the software you have to be an Inter-Tel/Mitel dealer or branch. Mitel does not give out the software to anyone.

Mitel is also very particular about the licensing. If you can get a letter from the person/company that originally paid for the license stating that they are transferring the license rights to you that would be smart.

Without transferring the license to the dealer of your choice you will have a box that cannot ever have features added.

You may have a password to get around also.

You have the system, but not the right to use it per se. (Unless you did the above).

Your best course of action for obtaining software is to work with your local dealer. Just explain like most end users do that you want to figure out most of the service needs yourself and call them on the most challenging things.

It would be well worth it to pay for an hour service call to have a tech walk you through the software. You, or the dealer, can access the programming on/off site very easily after setup.

So, chances are, the dealer has a lower rate for helping you out remotely.

Good luck.

Also-seeing as you have a CPC card-your features need to be licensed in order to work.
I recommend calling an authorized dealer. It's not end user friendly.
