What do I need to do to create sort of a 2nd night service button?

I'd like a different recording that can be activated when say a company meeting is going on and the receptionist is unavailable.

Thanks,

Jeff

My suggestion would be to stop using Night Mode. Use a STAR application to route your calls. You can setup up to 21 different routing scenarios based upon date, day and time of day. This would eliminate the need for Day and Night mode changes.

I do use STAR apps for all my holidays and for nights..

Let me change my question..

How can I setup an easy way for the receptionist to be able to switch her phone over so that calls will go immediately to a secondary message (NOT her primary voice mail message) saying "we are unavailable and to please leave a message."

I know the mailboxes have a secondary greeting. Can I switch back and forth easily and can I program a button that will act as a DND with this message?

To get more night service options we have call ring first to a single extension (main answer position), use sys fwd to immediate send to Star or HG or whatever. Then set up apps as needed for other options. Then just manually fwd from that main answer position to what ever app is needed, with the options you need. Manual fwd overrides sys fwd, so you are good to go. Cancel manual fwd to return to star or whatever.
We program DSS keys to speed up the fwding. There is some programming involved, but it works out quite well.
Have a few sites here today that would be using the app that says we are closed due to the winter storm. <Grin>

Switching between primary and secondary greetings is very easy. (Assuming you're using the Axxess) Especially if you're using the 550.4500 phones. There is a soft key on the screen to toggle between the messages.

Tom has a special on them if you need any:

I assume that you’re using a Call Routing Announcement (CRA) for the auto attendant. If the digit translations are the same, why not just log into the admin mailbox and swap the CRA greeting? No programming required.

Sorry I should have stated this is a 5600 with a 550-8662 (executive phone) by the receptionist.
She also uses the Attendant Console as well..

I figured out how create an alternate greeting, I can also switch to that greeting when I am in personal options in the voice mail system.

Guess now I just need to find an easier way for her to activate DND and switch to this Alt Greeting.

Can I program that to a button?

I would suggest creating a new Forwarding Path to the CRA you wish. Program it to function only when the phone is in DND. The forwarding will be automatic when the receptionist places the phone in DND. The more automatic for the user, the better.

OK.. I know how to change the forwarding path for DND.. but either I didn't have enough coffee this morning.. or just slow today...

What is CRA?

Call Routing Announcement. Found under Voice Processor\Devices\Applications. You can point a Forwarding Path to the CRA. Program the CRA to do what you need when the receptionist is unavailable.
