5000-00 works, has 2 digital cards in it, 5002-01 has one more digital card in it, but does this take a special cable to connect the two, because that doesn't seem to be in the pile, and a straight cable doesn't seem to do the job. (the XTSc-IP ate its power supply, trying to hook up 4 more phones and 4 ports of voicemail and deal with the original unit next week.)

I don't recall there being anything unique about the cable to connect the cabinets other than the fact that you absolutely, positively cannot go more than a foot or so in length. We tried to do this with an installation where there wasn't enough wall space with a 10' cable and it wasn't happening. The same applies for the STS/STSe systems as well.

You are correct it seems I hadn't punched the station cable to the block hard enough, once I got past that, the 6 foot cable causes snap crackle pop on the stations attached to the expansion cabinet.

They have an in house cabling genius who is going to see about getting one put together...

Hunting down a spare XTSc-IP cabinet with a couple cards this week and will swap back (because the 4 box solution is functional if I can get the cable the right length... but not quite as clean.

Now to find a newer main processor the the XTS that been buried in my garage for some years....

Absolutely positively always needed to use the 1' cable and never anything longer. That created a real creative solution once in a very small spaced installation closet.
