Good afternoon. I do not know if anyone can help me or not, but I am having some issues with programming the XPE for DTMF rather than the SMDI through the lan connection. They want to eliminate the lan and just use DTMF. Yes, I know they are going backwards, but it is what they want. I have no problem doing this in the regular IES voicemails, but for some reason on the IESXPE, it is greyed out in Emanager. I try to create another group, but still greyed out. I cannot figure out what I am missing in order to allow me to change this to DTMF. If anyone can give me some insight on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is all under

Stratagy ES - VM System - VM Phone System (In Emanager)

I was also reading that the XPE is setup more like a MAS. I thought they did not do DTMF, so could that be the issue with the IES?

I have done SMDI through LAN and also through COM port, but I have never done an IES using DTMF.
Why eliminate the LAN connection? I can understand the IT not wanted to have old stuff on the network (I've had this with the old IES), but you can just get a 5 port switch, connect the voicemail to the CIX processor and call it a day.

I apologize, I have been very busy lately. It is for government property and they just want to eliminate a point of failure. Trust me, I understand why it might confuse people. I would also rather have it connected through the network, even at worst a small switch, like you were saying. I did find out the problem was because that version of the voicemail, acted more like a mas than the older versions. It seems like it does not support it, but I could be wrong.

DTMF is always slow and clunky, and it won't pass all the information such as Caller ID. They will hate it if you switch.

I don't have any IESXPE in production anymore. I looked at a MAS. I have the option to switch to DTMF. I am assuming that if it is greyed out, it isn't supported.

Since you have to have both processors connected in order to manage the system with eManager, they should be connected to a network. Anything can be a point of failure. I would suggest that the voicemail will stop working before a good-quality data switch. Also, a data switch is easy to replace.

SMDI over the COM port is another way to do it, but you need a Serial card on the CIX processor and the correct cable.
