We have an Axxess System, ver 8.1, which has reached it's internal line/keyset capacity and we need to expand. The cabinet is a 809.1907 (REV-AH) and the configuration is as follows: (3) DKSC16+ (1) LSC (1) SLC (1) T1/E1 (1) EVMC (1) CPC-64
My understanding is we would need an additional cabinet, an expansion cable, and an upgrade of the CPC to something greater than 64. We can then add additional DKSC cards for additional lines. Are these assumptions correct? Does the model cabinet need to be the same? Is there anything else we need to be aware of? TIA

You are correct. You will need an additional cabinet. The part # you gave might be for an Eclipse cabinet which is basically one in the same. Inter-tel Axxess part #'s "usually" are 550.XXXX. I would use the same part # you have for the extra cabinet just to be on the save side although I think any "should" work.
At that point, you will need the expansion cable and a license upgrade on the CPC. The next level would be a 128. You're vendor will have to help you with that one. You will also need a power supply for the second cabinet. There's also a yellow terminating resistor on the left side of the cabinet that needs to be moved to the right hand side for any second cabinet.

This might be a good time to think about upgrading to a CS-5200, instead of putting more money into an Axxess system.
There are some pretty good incentives in place, and you can keep your existing keysets.
When you talk to your vendor, definitely price it both ways.

I am sure the dealer price to expand is twice the price of a new system w/ install and warranty.
