I know the "default" answer from TS but was curious if anyone has had any luck with any type of line driver or copper extender for Axxess/5000 digital endpoints. We have a customer w about 1500' of copper between buildings and the sets at the farthest point out occasionally just drop out. So far the only things I have found which will do this all have protocols associated with them (ethernet/RS232 etc) and I need a protocol free copper extender/driver. Any help is appreciated.

On an Axxess system you can wire an external power supply to the DKSC 16 cards. 30VDC will give you up to 2100 ft loop limit.
I don't believe that this is available for a DEM-16 on a 5000.

I guess I don't understand why thhere would be a difference unless the DKSC has something to protect/allow the 30VDC power to be applired to the circuits and the DEM does not so it would take damage from it.

Yo may also try to double up on the copper(two piar of wire). I have done that and only had speaker issues with the phone.

The wiring does not exist on the 5000's DEM cards for the external power supply. I realize you don't want to go IP, but that could fix your situation.

Thanks to everyone. I will try doubling up. If I find a pair driver that works I will post it here. (they don't want IP phones on their LAN fyi but its a last resort..)

Bundy,
Move the jumper on the DKSC-16 and use an external power supply - you can go up to 3000 feet.
