Recently upgraded a customer's IPO to R11.1 and installed a new VM Pro server. Everything appeared to upgrade flawlessly. Now a day and a half after the upgrade, customer calls and tells me that one of their phones (all 9508 and 9504's) isn't working. I get on-site, and the phone (a 9504) is in a constant state of rebooting. It powers up, says "Please Wait" and then immediately reboots again. This phone is connected to a Digital Station 30B expansion module. Digging deeper into this issue, find that the port is bad, so it appears. I rebooted the entire system thinking maybe something just hung up as a result of the upgrade, but no change. Further more, in moving this extension to an unused port, I find another port that is exhibiting the same behavior, and this port has never had a phone connected to it. I did find a port that works, but it is odd that in the 9 years that this system has been in service, I've never had an issue with ports until this upgrade took place.

Anyone experience anything like this before?

We've had an R11.0 system with about 4 or 5 DS30's that seems to randomly develop "bad ports" over the last 6 years. We usually move the extension to a completely different module and the issue goes away, but it seems like a bit of a "whack-a-mole" problem. I'm pretty sure some of the so-called bad ports start working again later - possibly after a module reboot or something.

Not much help, I know...

So far, no other complaints received. Will keep fingers crossed.
