I have a 5600 where Message Notification suddenly stopped working company wide.
I don't notice any settings that could turn this off globally. It's worked perfectly for many years and all of a sudden.
I have rebooted the unit from the display menu. This didn't help. Do I need to reboot the voice mail box or something else?
(I think I am running 2.3.6.47)

Make sure that the Message Notification/Retrieval Application didn't inadvertently get deleted. If it is still there, try deleting and re-creating it.

Anything special when re-creating it?
I'm going to do a quick backup first before I do..

BVM? EM? Networked? What voice mail do you have?

bvm? Not sure what this is..
Going though the main office it's a 5600, with a processing server. The VM is a Big 4u or 6u black server with Inter-tel on it.. I take it this is not the basic unit.
Two other locations networked in..

Maybe related maybe not..
Lately there are times I can't get into voice mail. Yet a few min later I can.. Almost like all the ports are taken up.. if that makes sense.

BVM(BasicVoiceMail) is embedded.(mainly seen on smaller systems) If you look at the back of the 4U black unit and see a green USB key. This indicates you have an EM (Enterprise Messaging) for vm. If the 5600 is the main node I'd be curious to know if this provides VM for your other sites? VM may be busy. Any program changes recently regarding call flow?

One more thing, make a note to look at the VM key on your phone and your display when you are having trouble and watch for the key to be lit steady red and what is displayed on the phone as well.

When you say Message Notification do you mean just the Message Waiting lamps on the phones or the mailbox calling out to a cell phone, pager, home, etc?
If it is calling out, make sure that the Outgoing list in CO Trunk groups contains the Message Notification/Retrieval Application. If it is not there it will not call out.
