Swapped a dead ksu for a used ksu last fall. Customer called today he hears a ticking sound when on line 1 . We did a system reset but did not clears the ticking noise. The noise is not heard at the NID with a IST phone. My options are to move line 1 to an other line port or add a new co card. Is this correct ? I have install the sts for over 25 . years and line 1 has been a consistent problem. Thanks Gary S.

Since the KSU comes factory-equipped for four CO lines on the motherboard, moving faulty lines around them is usually the most appropriate solution. The cabinet has slots for two additional four-port CO lines, expanding total line capacity to twelve lines maximum in the main cabinet. Of course, through the use of an expansion cabinet and three more CO line cards, your repair options are nearly limitless. By using the flexible port assignment feature (flash 42) you can move lines between physically very easily.
