Awhile ago I saw somewhere on eBay an adaptor that allows you to plug a 1A2 6 button phone directly into up to 4 co's, thus allowing you to use the phone as a standard multi line phone without the 1A2 KSU.Recently I've been looking for one of these adaptors, but have had no luck finding one. Have any of you guys heard of these or know where to get one? Or am I somehow making this all up?

Are you sure it didn't go the other way? A keystrip to connect a standard single-line telephone to a 1A2 ksu? As far as going the other way around, it would need to be a ksu in and of itself it you were going to get lights and hold.. kinda like a old Viking 1A2 controller that was all solid state, had a couple of amphenol connectors, and RJ-14s for 4 lines.
Of course you could just use a TA-5 adapter in reverse, but you wouldn't get lights and hold.

"Could you please point in the direction of one of these (either the TA-5 or the viking controller." Well, probably e-bay would probably be your only hope at this point. The TA-5 adapter was a small box with male and female amplenol connectors, designed to be sandwiched between a phone and its station cable. It had 5, 4-pin modular jacks wired to the Tip/Ring and A/A1 of the five pickups. If you spot one, you'll recgonise it immediatly. Anyway, you could plug a 1A2 phone into one, and line cords into the jacks, or you could just use a 25-pair amphenol-ended cable, and connect dial tone to every 4th pair. The Viking 1A2 micro-controllers were discontinued many years back (probably a good thing!), but Viking is still at https://www.vikingelectronics.com and has lots of niche products.
