Hi all.

trying to network (2) 5.2f2 cabinets through a point to point t1. attempting to use an adtran tsu120 on each end. having problems.

For testing purposes can i connect the two t1/e1 cards without the adtrans? should i expect this to work?

Master: CPU 128 w/network pal, node 1, t1/e1 w/pri pal, clocking master to private network.

Slave: CPU 128 w/network pal, node 2, t1/e1 w/pri pal, clocking slave to private network

getting red and blue alarm on one end. swapped t1/e1 cards from node 1 to 2 and vice versa, red and blue alarm followed the card.

any advice would be helpful, thanks.

You should be able to connect the two T1's with a T1 crossover cable for testing purposes. I would definitely try that first and foremost to verify your programming. The settings you mentioned do look right.

Have you added the Node Trunk Group that was created when doing the private networking to the remote node?

Good afternoon. Yep. Sure I have at both ends, going to have my tech double check now. I'm at the master he is at the slave. Currently I no alarms on the t1/e1 card, he has a red and blue. No adtrans installed.

You have a T1 crossover between the two ends and only his end has alarms. Both should have alarms or neither. Something doesn't seem quite right.

What kind (size) CPU do you have? You may need a Network Clocking Card if it is below a CPU 256.

Double check that the cards are both programmed for T1 PRI and not just T1 Card and that they are in the proper slot.

Try unplugging the cable from your end to see if your card receives any alarms or not.

Next, try putting a loopback plug in his end to see if his card will even sync to itself.

If both cards are T1/E1, then they should automatically download the proper flash version in 5.2f2. You could try holding in the Make Busy on the T1/E1 cards while seating them until a red and yellow light begins to flash. Let go at that point and the card should download its flash code.

Other than that, you may have a bad card, especially if the alarms follow his card.

Bad t1/e1 card, odd that it wouldn't show an alarm on the card but the tsu120 dsu/dsx was in red alarm. problem solved. thanx.
