I have never needed to dial into a phone system before, but after a recent storm our phone systems IP address in a remote office has reverted back to an old IP address and now is not communicating on the network. I need to be able to dial in and change the IP address. I know the dial-in number and the current IP of the system, but when I try to create a dial-up networking connection to the system I get ERROR 720. Can someone explain to me the proper settings needed for creating a dial-in connection to a Inter-tel phone system? Do I need to set a static IP address on the dial-up networking or should the phone system provide the proper IP once the dial in connection is created? I'm using Windows 7 and the Inter-Tel 5000 Session Manager. I noticed there is an option for using "Modem" in the Session Manager, but no dial-up settings. PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance.

Moto I'm not sure why your IP would have changed? To answer the question you would use 192.168.201.202 for the IP address in the dial up setting. The default modem extension is 1500. If you can get to a CRA you can dial 1500# and go to the modem if you get a live body it can be tough to get them to get you to the right place. Put a Pound in you dial string and tell the person that answers the call when they hear a beep (that would be your PC dialing a #) hit the transfer and dial 1500# and hang up.

Just to add to what Randy said....
You can also change the IP address from the LCD on the front of the 5000. If you want to know what the IP currently is you can hit the middle button 4 times. Perhaps an IT guy can do some port forwarding of a Public IP to whatever the internal IP has reverted to. The only port that needs to be forwarded is 4000.
As Randy mentioned, how did the IP change? Haven't seen that before.

If the system was set to use DHCP instead of a static and they had some sort of issue with their network then its possible that a new address was assigned to the system.
