We seem to have intermittent sound quality issues with our MOH. We record new messages every month and some months they seem to play fine and some they don't. Currently they don't.
If I call in to the system from my cellphone and get placed on hold the MOH is sort of staticy and seems to cut in and out. I can hear the voice over on the message, but can barely, if at all hear the background music. It sounds the same if I play the sample music on the PC, so I know it's not our recordings.
If I play the recordings through the PC speaker, they sound fine. If I put my deskphone on background music, it sounds fine. It's only bad calling in from outside and actually being placed on hold.
I have an Axxess system. The music is playing on a PC that is connected to the system with a stereo cable with an mono adapter going into the system. That's how I read to do it when I set it up.
Adjusting the volume on the PC doesn't make a difference. I've wiggled all the wires.

If I call in to the system from my cellphone and get placed on hold the MOH is sort of staticy and seems to cut in and out. how about a outside call from a land line ? MOH in general seems to not do well on cell phones and I always bring this up to the customer when we do a MOH install and always suggest a land line test when they complain

I did consider it might be a cellphone issue. I guess I'll have to find someone with a land line.

It would be an adequate test to call in on the same system?

I dunno know Merritt, I'd rather sit in the truck with the AC running talking to a customer on a cell phone than stand in the sun talking on a payphone but hey that's just me

I would also Skip but here in Maine unless your lucky enough to be in an area with cell coverage then you need to find a phone that works and we don't have AC in the trucks.
