Greetings,
I have a fax machine that will not ring. Here is my setup. Call routing pointing our fax number to the extention. The fax machine is hooked up. When i call the fax via my cell phone it just rings forever. While its ringing i can pickup the hand set on the fax machine and it works, im there talking. Same if i send a fax to that machine. It will ring and ring, but if i pickup the keyset on my fax machine i can hear the tones coming from the other end. Please note that i have tried 4 other fax machines on this line, and they all do the same thing.
So basically it seems like the PBX is not sending the ringing part of the call to my fax machine which it requires to answer the call.
Does anyone had any idea whats going on here?
Axxess PBX DB Studio 1.50 Intertel 6.006
THanks Nick

You can try turning on Extended Ring Cadence on the individual station's flags.
What are using for the single line? SLA, SLC, SLC16, SLC16+?
Sometimes, the ring generators are known to go bad on those cards which may be the case here. Try another circuit and see if that helps.

I've also had too long of distance on fax/modem lines off a SLC8 dropping the ring voltage down too low for them to pick up.

Thank you guys for the information! I will follow up regarding what type of card it is. I will be honest I don't yet understand how to see what circuit is associated with a specific card. Maybe someone could give me a little bump.
Also Stix1 in regards to your "Try another circuit" are you just speaking of moving the fax machine to another line and adjusting the call routing to point at that new extension. Or can i actually move that line to a different circuit on another card, if so how do I do this?
Thank you guys so much for the help, you have know idea how much it means that you guys take the time to help me with these issues.
Thanks
Nick

I would tone out the fax line to verify what circuit/extension it is connected to on the block. Put a butt set on the circuit and see if it rings when you call it. If it does not, then you will need to find an open circuit on that card or preferably another one and cross-connect the fax there. Look in programming to see what extension is associated with that circuit and place a call to your butt set again. If it still doesn't work and you are on a circuit on the same card, then you may have a bad card on your hands.
Your best bet would be to call your vendor in, who "should" be able to do the above steps very quickly.
