Disclaimer: Please forgive my ignorance of this subject matter; I am just getting started in telecommunications.

We have an AT&T Dimension 2000 PBX with a 20+ year old cable plant that is in bad need of repair/replacement. This existing copper serves an electrical generating facility and various outbuildings (8-10 closets, about 300 users). We would like to replace the copper with fiber, but I haven't had any luck finding anyone that manufactures a 'PBX Extension'.

I did find the TC Communications Fiber Optic Multiplexer (TC8800), which looks like it will work for some of our circuits, but we also need to support some AT&T 7406 Digital Display phones, which the TC8800 will NOT support.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Boy that's a tuff one,I don't know of anything the would help. You might have to run some new copper along with the fiber, I know that's not what you want to hear.Did you get a hold of Lucent? They might be able to give more help on your install needs.
Sorry I couldn't help.

it has been about 15 years since I worked on a D2000,but it was in a campus layout and we used remote cabinets in each outbuilding.Connection to main cabinet took 4 pair and then you equipped your cabinet with whatever type cards you needed. You can probably still get these cabinets through the secondary market, but the cost effectiveness would have to be prohibitive to any service gain.
