i have a universal door phone that no longer works it has a solid light on the controller, i think it's normally blinks. Is there a reset switch or procedure? Or do I have to purchase a new one.

Power the unit down completely.
If that dosn't do it check power supply output,
unless this is line powered by an existing station port then put a phone on it and test it. It may be that a button is stuck and it's seeing it as "in use" all the time.
