Do these things have an internal battery? I've placed a new 1400 size UPS on the unit, but whenever the power just flickers (storm), or if I unplug the UPS to 'test' the phone system; it looses the date and time. It also looses the programmed "names" for extention numbers that pop up on the displays.

But it keeps the programmed extensions (redial, speed dials, etc).

Nothing else is plugged into the UPS. We have two cabinets with an expension card.

We are about to upgrade to a voice mail system card, and I'm affraid all of the settings might be erased when this fluctionation happens.

1) Is this normal? If I disconnect the power to the units for 30 seconds or more, the entire system is erased (number of lines, programmed extensions). Is the fluctation in power normal to reset the time and date?

2) Does the voice messanging system v1.0 (100mailboxes) have it's own battery to prevent me re-programming the unit over and over again?

Thanks,
Eric Duncan

Yes it sounds like the Batt. is going bad, it is internal. You can put a new on in but it's a pain in the butt.
Go ahead and upgrade your voice mail as it should not be affected, it is stored on the voice mail hard drive.

We just purchased these items refurbished this past Feb. Did this from the start. So I suppose we have had a bad battery all along.

Thanks!

most of the processors of that vintage are nearing the end of their shelf life. Before I would invest any money in another one, or even replacing the battery, I would look at a Partner ACS with removable battery or a Merlin Legend system configured for Partner phones.

Yes the ACS processor will also give you 3 lines and 8 stations right off the processor, the one you have now is only a processor and that's it. It will also run the 206 and 400 mods. But only grows to one 5-slot cabinet. 15 lines by 40 stations.
Food for thought. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
