I am trying to administer a Legend R7.0 V9 processor control unit accros an IP network. I am using a Precidia Technologies Ether-232 serial server and com port redirector software in conjunction with WinSPM 7.0 (sort of a poor man's SocketMagix). I can communicate with another PC serial-to-serial across the IP network but I cannot communicate with the Legend controller. I assume that the admin port on the Merlin Legend is pinned as a DCE device. I do not have a breakout box so I am at a loss. Could anyone tell me how the admin port interface is configured (or where to find this information as it is not in the system maintenance or programming manual. I am also interested in the communications settings (i.e: handshake, flow control, etc..) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know a lot of techs who have tried this and had no good results, The only way you really can do this is with the SocketMagix device by northwest interactive.
If you do by some chance get this to work, let us know, that Socket is too expensive!

It can only be one of two scenarios:
8N1 or 7E1 2400bps although the SMDR is 7E1 and 1200.
Hope this helps, I have scoured the book and cannot find any info on the actual parameters for the Admin port.

Do you have a 355 adapter in line with your connection to the admin port?

Yes, the Socketmagix converts the IP packets to RS232.
