I have a need to give a console operator voicemail. I have set up a seperate ext to receive voicemail but need to light the message on the console phone. I've been trying to renumber a calling group to the vm ext and choose that extention under Ext-GroupCalling-Message but I'm not having any luck. Am I on the right track? If so what am I missing? 4 Port MerMail on a Legend R5

I'm pretty sure that you're out of luck -- as far as I know only the Definity phones have the ability to display voicemail messages waiting for other than the phone's extension.

You're on the right track. Perhaps there is a conflict in numbering the calling group with an exsisting extension?
Basically you want to renumber a calling group to be the extension number you want, have it overflow to the Voice Mail calling group, and set the Operator extension as the Message Waiting receiver.
Print out the Dial Plan, and see it there is already something numbered to what you want the Operator's guest mailbox to be.

Correct, on legend/magix you renumber the DGC to the extension of the mailbox you want to use for the rec. then under message in the DGC section enter the console ext number, remember to add the DGC phantom to the cover group for VM. the operator will have to check two mailboxes if she also has the general mailbox as well. this may be confusing.

If you are planning on upgrading your voice mail anytime soon, you should look at a third party mail. There are several that work on Legends better than the Merlin Mail, and the flexability for multiple lamps, transfer to other extensions, etc. are available. MerMail is no longer supported by Avaya. Just something to think about for future reference.

You choose the operators extension as the message receiver for your group. Make sure that its not already assigned to another group like the VMI group(770).
