Anyone here familiar with the System 75 PBX?
I was given one and am trying to get it to come back to life.
Thanks DJ

Worked on few of them. Most of the ones I worked on have been replaced with Definity systems. They program pretty similiar in lot of way, but the System 75 only does about half, if that, of what a Definity will do. You have to have a programming terminal to work on one. I am not aware of any software to install on a laptop that you can use. Gkar would know if laptop software was available. What kind of issues are you having?

The problem is it won't come up. Upon power up, after a few minutes the terminal shows SPE Down and alarms shows Proc problem.
Have replaced the Proc. card, Mem Card, Net Card and still won't come up. I suspect the tape controller card is next but I am running low on funds.
Any ideas?

Try unseating all unnecessarly cards and leave 1 station card and 1 line card in and see if it will come up.

Need to know what cabinet and version software you have. Check all the connections, ICC, TDM bus, terminators. What is the Alarm exactly? How far will it boot before you get spe-down? I would need to know what the last process was that passed. Most Proc's alarms are from wrong cable connections or cards in the wrong slot.

Look for bent pins on the back plane if everything is correct with the cables, terminators, and current limiter.

Thanks for the info GKAR, I checked all the backplane pins and the socket pins for the cards. All look good,no bent broken or crossed pins. The terminators are all seated good, and the Current Limiter is seated also. Still no luck. The one thing that I have noticed is that the backup batteries (48V) are all completely dead and the charger unit does not look like it is working, I wonder if the system needs this to complete it's power up diagnostics? From what I have seen in the documentation this would appear to be used only in case of a loss of AC and really only there to provide a soft power down. If you all think I am clogging up the board with this, I have a real e-mail address listed below that we can take this topic off list. Thanks Dennis Jones [email protected]

Dead batteries will only cause a minor power alarm that will not interupt boot-up. If all looks good it's card related. You said you changed the common control cards. Did you try them one at a time?

WHEN YOU SAY THE CHARGER ISN'T WORKING DO YOU MEAN THE RECTIFIER DOES NOT PRODUCE THE CORRECT MEASUREABLE POWER OUTPUTS?
HE SEEMS TO BE SAYING SOME KIND OF WORDS
