I'm strictly a Comdial person, but here lately I keep reading about Avaya vectors and how complicated it is to write and modify them.
I though vectors were just another way of routing calls from a DID off of a T1 or PRI to an ACD or other hunt group. Am I completely wrong?
Can anyone give direction on how a vector is different from Comdial's DID translations and hunt groups?
Thanks, Chris

Vectoring if enabled can achieve a lot of things, you can call que, setup ACD groups, redirect callers to other groups or stations, the list goes on. you can setup auto attendants with just vectoring and then send the caller to a vm box, I wish I had the time and the patience to actually list verbatim from the docs, if I can find the website for you I'll post it so you can get an idea of all the things it can do.

Vectors can be used almost like your translations tables in the Comdial, except that the did that you are referring to is actually set up as a vdn or vector directory number, that allows you to refer to a vector, that will allow you to complete a vector form to "route" did to a hunt group or more complicated stuff.
