I just put in a messaging Card (Small) into a Partner acs. Strickly using it to route calls to phones as Auto Attendant. Don't want callers to be able to leave messages. But They are. How can I make it so they can't.
Thanks

You can set the unit to a 2x2 and don't give anybody vioce mail coverage but 10 then give it Answer Only. It will ask you to enter a greeting but won't give the caller a tone to leave a message.

Yes, but how do you delete them. Originally posted by dtmf: You can delete all but the operators mail box and set that one to answer only. It will ask you to enter a greeting but won't give the caller a tone to leave a message.

"Yes, but how do you delete them."
You can't delete the boxes, but you can assign them to unused extensions. I regularly assign them to extensions 49 and down (Card mail won't recgonize ext. 50-57).
So assign Box 4 to Ext. 49, Box 3 to 48, 2 to 47, and 1 to 46.
Don't give anyone VMS cover.
Zero outs still go to Ext. 10.
Transfer to Voice Mail (Feature-14) still works, but with the mailboxes on oddball extensions, it's not likely that calls will get sent there.

I've never actually tried to change the configuration on a 4-box card, I just move unused boxes out of normal range, figuring that eventually they will need to be used.

You could use a DXD card in the system But I guess it's too late if you already have the messaging card. You could also make sure that Automatic VMS cover is set to off.
