We just had a customer install the ACS,, it seems that after he put new batteries in,,, the display set still reads battery low. We haven't had this prob before,,, is this a defective unit? thanks!

Even though the batt. are new they still may be weak. I've had to replace them a couple of times before we got some good ones. It does happen.

I have also had bad battery covers, one brand new one was missing the contacts between the batteries

I use copper top batteries, they seem to last longer. (To me )
You can't loose with the stuff we use.
