what version of Audix? Does it have a remote maint. card? Most of the Audix systems are worth avoiding if you can.

I have no idea but I might pursuade them to switch it out to a merlin messaging. Can you think of any real advantages so they would want to switch it out?? Thanks

Ease of use for one. The ability to program and make recordings remotely. I would even consider an after market mail like Key Voice. I know several of the guys on this board use them, and I for one am very pleased with the performance. Better price and more features than Merlin Messaging.

What's your beef with Audix? I don't mind it. It's very very easy to program (remotely as well, via IP, console or modem)... and it's really simple to administrate when you've got a large number of users. Not to mention that its integration with Definity is pretty nice... and that opens up a whole new discussion.
David -- what switch is your customer using?

The Intuity Audix is not bad, but the older voice power systems were difficult. Not to mention the fact that most after market systems offer more features than even the Intuity, at half the price. The maintenance functions on most 3rd party mails offer 3 types of maintenance access, compared to two for the Avaya. Not to mention that the Avaya parts are proprietary and not field servicable. We don't have a lot of Definity systems out there, but the ones we do are split half and half with IA and Key Voice. Most all of our Legend and Magix systems and Partner systems are equipped with Key Voice or Active Voice. The nice benefit of this for the customer is if they start with a Partner system and 3rd party mail, they can use the same voice mail if they upgrade to a Legend or Magix. I don't really have a beef with Audix, I just like the other applications better. If they just would have kept the Octel around huh?

Yeah... octel is a little bit intense though at times. I've only messed with it briefly at a cellular company that used it, but I did plenty with a few different Definity systems that used Intuity Audix. I just like the integration a lot better. Not to mention, from a sales aspect -- when you're dealing with large switches (in excess of 2,500 stations for instance) you don't want to be playing around with a bunch of different vendors... I like that about Avaya, they may be expensive -- but they don't play games either. And when a switch or mail server goes down for a setup that large... you need things fixed, fast. Of course... with the newest release of the "definity" series and its respective vm server, everything is becoming much more integrated, both physically and software wise... so I think they're catching on to this entire theory of people using different voicemail products, and trying to integrate those features into their own releases. Oh well... Avaya is slow sometimes, but then again -- I'm just AvayaNovice... aren't I
