It sounds like a users problem...not understanding something correctly...like either it's not a new message or they are controlling it somehow or way and not knowing it.
I say this because it's rare that a component will only working sometimes...either it works or it doesn't...usually.
Have you done a reset on the system?

There have been problems with many of the PC mail cards, You can try doing a reset #728, it won't loose any programming. You may want to also reseat the PC mail card.

Another thing to check is to see if by chance they are using F10 and F09 to turn off and on internal messaging for each other.

Just remember that it my just be the PC card itself that is defective.

It may be too busy at times. How many ports verse's users do you have? Are all calls answered by Auto -Attendant?

Thanks

Since your PM is only 2 ports, it is most probable that the system is just too busy to handle prompt messaging waiting signals. If they are using the AA and have a fair # of mailboxes that get traffic, I think this is the most probable cause. We repair about 100 Partner/Merlin Mails each month and seldom get a defective Brooktrout port card.

The last port on the card is the MW signal port. The timing to send a MW signal to the processor is about 2 minutes after the VM is left ... only if the last port hasn't been accessed during that time period. It can be stored in the MW database file for up to 10 minutes without being released and can sometimes be looped for 30 to 45 minutes if certain factors exist. I recommend adding a 2nd Brooktrout port card and you will likely see the problem go away.

The Voice Mail in question is a PC mail for ports 78,79. There is no way to add ports to it.
If the voice mail is getting used that much it may be time to upgrade to a R1 or R6 or maybe a VS 5 four port.

I am still having the issue of light not always lighting. All calls are answered by persons and are transferred directly into voice mail to leave message i.e. They are not transferred to the phone and fowarded to voice mail. and there are times when there are as many as 4 to 8 messages that have been left. This leads me to believe that it is not a busy problem since each new message should try to light the light and calls are being manually put into the voice mail. Are there any other thoughts or is the next step to replace the voice mail card?

Thanks

phonedude,
you probably checked this already but just in case, is her extension the same as her mailbox number?
I had a user move her phone to a different desk thinking her extension would move with the phone. she called me with the same saturation as your describing. it ended up she was checking voicemail on her old mailbox
