I popped a 016 card in to slot 11 on a legend while carrier was hot an dlost the card. I have since gotten a new card and replaced it but it still wont restore. says board mismatch. new card works in another slot. I then replaced the carriage and still same problem. Any other ideas to correct my stupid mistake of plugging in a card hot? Thanks

THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A PHANTOM CARD ADMINISTERED IN SLOT ELEVEN FOR MAILBOX ONLY SERVICE.TO GET BACK TO SQUARE ONE YOU MAY HAVE TO RESTORE THE EXACT PREVIOUS HARDWARE ARRANGEMENT, NOTHING MORE OR LESS, THEN TRY TO RESTORE. IF THE SWITCH COMES BACK,DO BOARD RENUMBER, SAVE TRANSLATIONS, THEN SHUT DOWN AND ADD THE NEW BOARD AND POWER ON. THE SWITCH SHOULD COME BACK RESTORED AND WITH THE NEW BOARD. AT WORST YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THE BOARD RENUMBER AGAIN.

there was a 016 card in slot 11 previously. it had 2 bad ports that is why I was replacing it. So the original configuration should have that card or am I miss understanding what you mean? Thanks

You are right; if there was an 016 card in slot 11; the translation should still be there. Go into maint. under system and look at the inventory or print out system set up and see if the switch is seeing the 016 card. If not than you will have to do a board renumber with all boards in place.

inventory does not see board and I have done numerous board renumbers to no avail.
how does the edge connector pin out from the main carrier to the second carrier and could there be a pin on the edge connector from the main carrier that is not making contact and only affecting board 11?
thanks

If print system setup does not show the card being in slot 11; and it was working before you hot swap the card; and you have replace card and expansion carrier; I would suggest replaceing the main carrier -- something must have blown in it when you did the hot swap.

older vintage modules are not always recognized automatically. I suggest you manually assign that board type to that slot before getting in too deep.

I now have a new main carrirer a new expansion carrier and a new card in slot 11 and it dtill wont see that card. have done board renumber. A new problem I just encountered is that I can not do a backup. I was going to do one and try and replace the processor which seems to me the only other option right now. When I go in to do backup it just says to make sure memory card is installed properly. So I dont know when the last backup was done.any more suggestions are appreciated and have a happy thanksgiving.
Thanks

Can you back up to a floppy? If so back up to a floppy; power down system; remove all modules except the processor; see if you can manual assign the module to slot 11; if so, save translation, power down system, reinstall all modules; restore from save translation and see if you can see slot 11.

I believe I need a 355 adapter to connect vis laptop and I do not have one. Is there a Pin out fro a 9 pin serial to the switch I can build a cable to communicate without a 355. I have a new processor coming. My thought was to replace the processor and pray that someone did a fairly recent backup to the memory card to load on the new processor.
Thanks
