We did a sub job a little less than a year ago that a National company provided the equipment we just supplied the labor. We installed a small Partner with several of the Avaya cordless sets(It's been awhile don't remember the model #'s) Anyway they have had a falling out with the company that sold it to them and they have contacted me wanting to know if I can help them get the cordless sets repaired under warranty for them. That leaves me with two questions. 1. What is Avaya's warranty on the cordless units? 2. Do you have to be an avaya dealer to send parts for warranty repair. I really don't want to get in the middle of it but if I can help em out I will. Is there perhaps a place I can have them send the units in for repair themselves, thus keeping me out of the middle"?

The supplier of the equipment should honor the phones, the problem you may have is that the supplier may have sold them older equipment in which case Avaya won't honor it.
Even if they had a falling out with them they should still honor and back up what they sell.

Apparently that is what the falling out is over, they are not wanting to honor the warranty. But as with anything there are two sides to the story. If memory serves, We did utilze some of thier existing cordless from thier old system and only added a couple of new ones. They are probably having trouble with the old ones and are trying to get them fixed under the warranty for the new ones. I hav'nt talked to the customer myself yet, I just wanted to have an idea of somewhere I could point him before I call him. If I speak with him and he agrees to pay for repair, where could I send them?

I have sent the cordless 9031 and 9040 transtalks to TQM Labs, ph number 636-343-0222 for repair. Have been satisfied with their work. They only provide 90 days warranty on all cordless equipment.

Ok, I went and checked the units today. They have 2-9031's and 1- 9030. Only one unit is functioning properly. One unit works sometimes and signal strength says hs:4 bs:5. The other unit says no link. How can I tell if the phones themselves need to be reparired or the base stations? I tried to swap positions with the transtalk modules but the same cordless still accesses the same module. Are the units "hard coded" to the base or can I change the address in the phone to test the radio modules?

9030s and 9031s:handsets and transceivers are matched pairs, see the coding on both units. They are maintained/replaced in matching pairs also. The only exception is battery maintenance.

just a quick note... Anyone who is going to do a quality repair on a cordless is going to need the handset and base unit. We no longer do repairs on cordless phones because people would never send in all of the parts.
