I am having a little trouble programming vms.I set up a mailbox on ext 10 as the customer only wants one mailbox on one ext.I also set up a night button.Everything seems to work fine except when on night service the caller gets the factory greeting(your party is not avail press *8 for ext or 0 for receptionist)then after the set amount of rings (after 0 is pressed)You finally get to the customers voice greeting. How can I eliminate that first factory greeting and get vms right away when on night service? Thanks yet again. John.

Instead of assigning the lines to the Auto Attendant, you want to make Ext. 10 the "owner" of them. Then instead of using Night Service, put Ext. 10 in DND.

Remove lines from CallDistGrp 7:
#206-7-NN-2

Assign lines to be covered by Ext. 10:
#208-NN-10

Ok thanks I will give it a shot.So instead of an assigned night button I should assign a vms cover button in its place to activate voice mail right? or will a dnd button do the same thing?

Well, if you ALWAYS want voice mail to pick up, after the VMS Cover Delay Rings, program Auto VMS Cover in #310. When you hit DND it will pick up right away, instead of delayed.

Now, if you want calls to never go to Voice Mail, except at night, Yes, DON'T assign Auto VMS Cover, set the VMS Cover Delay Rings to 0, and put a VMS Cover button on the set. Now in the "day" mode, calls just ring until answered live, in the "night" mode, Ext. 10's mailbox answers right away.

Hey,Tommy, I really appreciate your help. It took me all of five minutes to straighten it out with your help. I was dancing all around it for about an hour yesterday. The knowledge base on these boards is phenomenal. All the guys that I've talked to in the month or so that I'm here have friendly and very helpful. If there's anything I can do for guys, let me know. Thanks again, John.
