Hold does not make the call start ringing after a timeout interval, nor does it require a programmed "park" button or park zone.It may require paging or using an unfamiliar pickup code to retrieve a held call.
Park can be used by almost anyone, however it's primary use is by attendants who can use a range of park codes that can be paged with some familiarity to those who pick up the parked calls. Park is also easy to use and gives visual indications to attendants when calls are parked. Parking by attendants is very similar to transferring by dss. Additionally a forgotten parked call will return to the attendant after a timeout if it is forgotten.
