If I put a 4 port 5.0 partner mail on a partner 3.1 in a Dr's office will I be able to have VM ring several phones for an emergency call? I don't know the limitations of the Partner system or the partner Mail system. I know I could make them happy with a new DX80 but they don't want to spend the money. Any body have time to give me the cliff notes on this? Also does the auto attendant allow for options 1 through 0 or is it limited?

Just put the emergency extension into a calling group (use group 2, which is Intercom 72). Then either have your callers dial 72 from the auto attendant, or use a selector code to point to 72. If you have them dial it themsleves, be sure to set selector code 7 to Direct Extension Transfer (first digit of an extension number), because it is Not Used by default.

Calling Group: #502-G-XX-1, where G is the Group Number (2), XX is the extension number to assign to the group.

ok so it can be done, I'll have to pull a manual. Riddle me this, can it drop into a MB if none of the group ext's answer? & in a 5 slot cabinet is there one particular place the VM card should go? I might be able to do this and save them buying a new system (like the good Dr. can't afford it) yeah right.

"can it drop into a MB if none of the group ext's answer? "

Yes and No. A call transferred from the Auto Attendant to a calling group will normally ring until answered or abandoned. However, if you purposly mis-program the Transfer Return Extension setting for each of the voice mail ports, leaving them set to themselves, the call will return to the voice mail port that sent the call. When it arrives, ir will come without "mode codes" to tell the VM how to handle the call. So VM will say "transferring to operator" and send the call to Ext. 10, where it will ring 4 more times and cover to 10's voice mail.

"in a 5 slot cabinet is there one particular place the VM card should go"

It should be in the last card used in the system, if you ever need to add another station card later, you should move the VM down a slot, and reprogram the old and new ports.

Shoot me e-mail if you need more detailed info.

you could also add an additional extension in the calling group, loop that extension to an unused CO line, program that line to be owned by an extension (#208)and use the voicemail box from that extension as the calling group mailbox.

thanks upstate, sounds like I can offer him the option of staying with his equipment and adding VM or going new. With the help of this fine board at least I'll know that the info I give him is correct regaurding his current equipment. I hate to tell someone "you can't do it with that stuff" and then find out you can.
Thanks all, I'll have to save this thread for when the job actually comes through.
