This does not feel right because I am usually trying to answer questions and not asking them. But we all need help sometime.
I received a 007 MLM card that we are installing into a Rel. 5 ver. 10 Merlin Legend.
It does not appear to be that big of a deal and is much like I thought it would be to install. My question is that while reading the documentation, it states to run a test using the Merlin Mail Terminal Administration program. When we received the card all that came with it was a CD with the installation manual.
I would like to know if there is suppose to be connection software with the card. The card does have an internal remote maintenance device, so I am assuming (I know ass-u-me) that there would be software to connect and program the voicemail, or am I incorrect.
Thanks for the support.

you can hook into the serial port on the front and there are diagnostics that can be run. The Password is the 6 digit serial number
You shouldn't have to run them unless you have a problem or if you want to do a scan of the hard drive to make sure it is not going to crap out on you.

Thanks Don.
I also wanted to know if I can use any software to program remotely using the internal modem, or can I use Procomm or WINSPM? Or do you program by dialing in using phone prompts.
The CD w/ the book on it only talks about installing the card, their is no programming information. At least in the Partner stuff, there is the flow chart of options to set up for the Vmail.
Thanks for the help.

How do you do any programming to the voicemail?
What if the remote location hires someone new and I have to add a box, or someone quits and they want the password reset? There were no programming instructions with the card.
Or did the reseller I recieved the card from omit some information.
Thanks,

It programs through interactive prompts in the system administrator's mailbox. If you are familiar with Partner Mail, it pretty much like that. If you customer has a backdoor line for employees to check messages, or DID numbers, you can get in without having to go through the operator. Then, just log into the system administrator's mailbox to make changes. The manual, and the flowchart, is on the Avaya support site.
Also, there is a built in modem on the 7th extension port of the 007MLM, which you can get to remotely, just like being connected to the serial port, and allow you to capture the configuration reports. They can be very helpful in verifying the auto attendant settings, mailbox configurations, etc.

Thanks for the info Tommy, that was part of what I wanted to know. But when connecting to the 7th port, do you connect with Hyperterminal, Procomm or WINSPM? Or is it still just a dial in and go through the prompts.
Also, I am quite familiar with the Partner mail and it should be no problem setting up the voicemail (famous last words).
I will be testing later, but first I have to get a spare line to assign for the internal modem.
Thanks,

Just use Hyperterminal to connect. You don't need a dedicated line; being the 7th station port on the MLM card, it has an extension number. Renumber it to something within the dial plan, make a transfer-only mailbox (COS=20) and you can dial into the auto attendant, pause, dial the modem extension number, and then connect.

Thanks everyone for the help. I spent most of yesterday setting up as much as possible before I had to ship it to the site.
I will dial in later today to finish the programming.
