I have a Partners 6.0 that does not have voice mail, operator takes all calls. Is there away an extension can notify the operator that he is out to lunch so the operator can take a message without ringing the extension. We had an old Executone Encore plus that was set-up with a button on the extension that would light a light on the operator phone informing that he was out of the office. Looking to do the same with the Partner System.

Would'nt "auto intercom button" be a AIB button? Could a direct station signal be a Dss button? Just a thought.

That's why the usual terminology is "DSS/BLF", where the button and light make up a Direct Station Selector and a Busy Lamp Field.

Avaya/Lucent/AT&T's terminology since the early Merlins has been "Auto Intercom"
