I cannot get the message lights to lamp across my point to point. They do lamp on the side of the voicemail, but not on the side without. Any thoughts?

Phone system?

Phones in question?

In my office with an IP Office 403 and 4620 hard phones, if you login and have voicemail, it wont light the light until after you have been on the phone.

After calling Avaya on this we were told its "An undocumented feature". Our policy work around has been, after logging into the phone, hit the speaker button twice. if you have a VM the light will lite then.

Sorry forgot to mention that this was a Magix 3.0 version 7.0. Messaging is a 3.0.33.

I know IP office is a pile of crap. We have had major issues with it in our office.

This is usally the UDP route for the VMI conversion number is programmed incorrectly or the switch numbers on the tie trunks are wrong. Also if using Tie trunks not PRI it could be no TTRs on the remote site. Look for error code 0c03. Are there any other problems or just no message lights? How many trunks are between the sites on the ptp?

We sent some of our information to Catalyst, they are telling now that we have to upgrade our processors to 4.0, which I find that hard to believe.

There are 13 channels on the ptp PRI. Could you explain the UDP route? Catalyst was saying that we had to setup a VM group of 770 on the remote site, then put a member of 699 in the group. Then add 699 in the non-local UDP routing table.

Could you maybe send me an email on how you would set these up on both sides.

Is there a way to manually turn on the VM lights from the main site to the remote? We tried doing #53, but it just rings the phone.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

You would not need to upgrade. Centralized voice mail was a feature of Legend 6.1, so your software version is fine. Like Gkar said, check the switch numbers on both sites. You are positive the PTP is PRI emulation? Does group calling on the remote site work? You might have some mailboxes programmed in voice mail that are listed as not having extensions. If that is the case, the VMS will not attempt to light a MWL. Check to make sure all the mailboxes are setup correctly.

Help me out on checking the switch numbers? This is affecting all of the phones at the remote location. We have deleted and re-created VM boxes, making sure the voicemail box says it does have a phone. I am positive that this is a ptp with PRI. We actually added some channels to the switch and the CSU. The voicemail problem was going on before even adding the channels.

Catalyst actually had told us to upgrade the processors once from 6.1 to 3.0. Now they are telling us to go to 4.0.

Can someone please send me how you would program each location so we can double check out setup?

Thanks again for all the help.

The best place for you to start is with the Lucent Network Reference book 555-661-150. You DO NOT need to upgrade. Other than that you are asking us to do this for you. that should be a billable effort. Many things need to be checked to see if this was setup properly. If you download the book from Avaya and still can't figure it out come back and post again or I suggest that you contact a Avaya tech with experience to check your switch numbers and UDP voicemail conversion programming. I'm sure many of us at this site can assist you but the info you need is more hands on.
