I am trying to get a handle on what components of a basic G3 system become unusable when equipment has been recycled and passwords have been lost.

For instance, let's say I've got a...

·J58890S compact SCC
·TN790 or TN790B processor
·TN777B network control
·TN2182 tone clock
·J58890TG PCMCIA memory card
·TN754B digital circuit pack

...and I have no passwords or other documentation. Assuming I'm working way, way outside of the loving arms of Avaya support, what's necessary to get that setup running? What components must be replaced?

You really cant do much w/o passwords here. Your also screwed if your not an AVAYA authorized dealer. Your customer will have to take care of getting passwords from Avaya. They will need to have all their sell to information eady.

Thanks. I was under the impression that it was possible to cobble together a Definity from parts, but I seem to be finding that the situation is quite the opposite.

You have some options. Somebody could default the whole thing and provide you default passwords. Much cheaper than Avaya, but they will not support you at all. If you go thru a Business Partner they could help you. So it comes down to how much you want to spend.

Thank you for the advice.

Can someone *please* recommend a person or business who can do this type of work?

Please feel free to contact me off-board if you wish.
