Just curious as to what others here are using to cable out their phone systems. By that I mean the actual C.O. or Station ports. Are you using pre-made modular to bare end cords? If so, any sources or part numbers?

Also any preference as to using 66 or 110 blocks?

Thanks in advance.

On small systems mostly 66 blocks with some 110 on the med. 110 or patch panels with 66 being used on some of the older systems. I prefer 110 it gives you more locations for cable and takes up less room.

We buy premade 15' 2 pair cords from sandman - would love to come up with some other options and sources.

We use pre-made cables for both the CO's and station ports. The CO cables are 6 pair with each pair sleeved and terminated with a RJ-11 plug. I actually got the idea from old AT&T installations that used a 4 pair version of these. I have no idea where they came from.

For the station ports we do the same thing with 25 pair and 2 pairs per plug.

We make all about 6 feet long and unterminated at the other end to be punched down on a 66 block.

We started making these ourselves years ago but found an outfit to make them for us. Haven't had any made in a few years so I would have to check if they are still around.

I found that Express Communications Supply (expcomm.com) makes something similar. Looks like they make cables for Partner and Legend but it is one cable with the CO's and station ports for that module. I don't use them because I never put the CO's and stations on the same block and would never arrange a cross connect by the modules.

It make much more sense to make cables my way. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com] Been meaning to contact them and talk some sense into them. They could replace much of their line with a few cables.

use 2 pair crossconect and crimp a mod plug on the sytem side then to a 66 block

or 4 pair cable with mod plugs crimped on , depending on istallation and materials at hand

usually do the 2 pair crossconnect though.

I prefer 110 hardware, I can get alot more onto it in a alot less space and I find it to be much neater then 66m150 blocks altough I will use 66 blocks if pre-existing or adding onto existing 66 blocks.
Co lines,012,016 and MLX stations I prefer to use premade when I can get a chance to order them if not I will make my own either by using a 4 pair cable pre-taping each pair with electrial tape and crimp rj11 ends so that the connections never come lose like just crimping an rj11 on a crossconnect or use heat shrink tubing and pre-making thenm when I have the time. Most of the time I am cabling 412 or 024 tails to 110 blocks, all definity systemsand 8700 systems I use 110, all ipoffice, 8300, I use patch panel and custom cable I make.

Make my own mods and punch down on 66 blocks. Guess I just grew up with them and find them easier for trouble shooting. Plus I always use bridge clips.

The few I've done, I used 4pr and cripped my own ends on. I would think you could use a hydra?? or octopus cable you'd then have 25pr to just punch to a 66 block and cross connect. Don't know what it would look like, but seems like it would make an easy install. Sometimes my thinking gets me in trouble.

we use patch panels. just terminate the station cables on the panel and run patch cords to the system. provides a clean install and easier to manage for moves.
