I received a call this morning from a friend of mine who's Partner voice mail system isn't working. Friday, the city had a power outage for about half an hour and He doesn't have his system on any kind of battery backup. I had him power off his system to try and reset it but it didn't help. I then had him power off the system, reseat the voice mail card, and power the system up. This also didn't work. He told me that ther were three lights lit on the system, The hard drive light is green, the busy or active light is yellow, and the third light which I have forgotten is red. Can someone give me some advice on what to try next? I don't do much with other systems. Mostly my Company's 61C.

Depending on the Partner system it may just be that you have lost your programming on the system side, you didn't tell us what system and if the Partner went back to default, need a little more info. What Partner system and what mail?

If the Test, Status and HDD lights are on steady it's not a good thing, in normal run mode you should only have the green power light at top and the HDD light will flicker when it's being used the Status and Test lights should be off, you may want to call in a tech to see if it's toast.

Sounds like a Mail VS. Also sounds like it's toast. I assume everything else in the system is working properly?

I'm not absolutly sure of the actual release or whether it's a partner or partner plus. I haven't been to his office to look at it yet. I'm assuming everything else on the system is working. How quickly will th vm loose it's programming due to a power loss?

Could it be a bad card connection? Should he try powering it down and up again? I'm asking so many questions because I'm trying not to have to go to his office. I appriciate all of your help.

The voice mail won't loose it's programming, it's on it's hard drive, the system will loose it's programming if the batt is dead.

Gotcha. But, all of the lights should be lit even if the system has lost it's programming, correct?

No, as I posted only the power light should be on and you will see the HDD light flicker when the voice mail is doing something, the others should go out after power up and boot is done.

Sorry didn't see your last post in time.
