I have a non profit who has a 9040 that is chirping - they have replaced the battery with a known good battery and it still chirps. Any thoughts? If not any suggestions for a place to have it repaired?

Yep - chirps all of the time - they have 2 of these and have taken the battery that works fine on one phone and put it on the chirping phone and charged it. The phone has been dropped and is a little beat up - any chance it was damaged internally? Any ideas on who would repair these?

Wouldn't say that they are junk but you would think for the money you could drop them a few times without any harm. Doesn't seem to be a problem with cell phones why with them?
It's a moot point anyway. They have developed a major interference problem that causes clicking and popping at the handset end. It can get so bad that you can't carry on a conversation. Avaya recognizes this as a known problem with the 9040 and to a lesser extent with the old 9031. However they say it will only happen with multiple handsets at one location, I'm seeing it with standalone single handset installations. It doesn't seem to matter where these are and all have been in service for years without a problem.
I've stopped selling them until they come out with the next generation (9050?) that hopefully will address all these problems. Avaya has to do something and quick because the Transtalk is used across their entire product line except for the IP Office.
As for repair I've never been successful getting them fixed. Usually come back "unrepairable". You could try, I think I used Telequest or Metroline. Maybe someone else here know of a better place.

Your right for the money there fine. The spectralink phones are alot nicer, but alot more money.... I guess you get what you pay for. Like I said I have a 9040 and there always seems to be some type of problem with it. Most recently it has been un registering itself with the base.

Transtalk can be used on IP Office! We have serval out there in service.
Still not a big fan of the Transtalk.
The Engenus Dura Phone seems to be pretty stable and will work across the board, but is single line device.

You better check and see if they are still useable (better yet don't ask unless they call you!) We had two out there that were still under warranty when they both started acting up. Replaced handsets, replaced radio units just to placate the customer, neither made any difference. Couldn't do any more other than giving them their money back. Luckily they never asked because they were useable and there is nothing else with the ease of use.
