Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has experience fixing an echo with an IP Office system (IP406) running on an analog trunk. We're using 5600 IP Telephones. Here's some of the things we've tried so far:

*Tried digital phones, and still get echo.

*Had the service provider attenuate the incoming signal to 34db - echoing was reduced but not eliminated.

*Have isolated the IP Office system from the lines and do not get echo. Once we add the IP Office system back, the echo returns.

There is the signal adjustment (Gains)option in IP Office Manager, but not quite sure what to set it to. Somebody else had a similar issue on a Toshiba system on this site, with a promising resolution https://www.sundance-communications.../ubb/get_topic/f/11/t/001162.html#000000

Can somebody provide some more info on the IP Office Gains adjustment and/or other steps you've taken that have worked?

Thanks a lot.

Tom

I've been dealing with the same issue since May - 406V2. I have CO transmit level at -4db on all lines and it made a difference. Replaced VCM5 with new VCM4 with enhanced echo cancellation - not much difference. Newest IP phone firmware release - available last July (2.2.3 I think) made a huge difference. So now echo is tolerable, but not great.

Unlike you, we have a couple of 5400 series phones and they have no echo at all. Let me know if you figure something out.

Mike,

Thanks for your input. Did you set the TX (A-D) to -4db, or the RX? I assume TX. If -4db, isn't that boosting the signal from the CO, rather than reducing it?.
