The hardware store I work at has a Merlin Classic. We have 2 lines and 3 stations. Could I connect a single line or cordless phone to one of the lines and be able to answer calls? I wouldn't need intercom on it, just the ability to make and receive outgoing calls. Thanks, Jeff

Yes but you will not bring up the line on the system as you will have to hook up the SL in front of the system. if a station goes out on that line they will barge right in on you.

We don't make a whole lot of calls, we mostly receive them. I'm not too worried about the barging in issue. I talked to the boss and he said I can bring in a basic SL phone from home and try it out. Thanks for the advice. Jeff

Jeff you could get a line share device like a comswitch 7500. This would allow you to answer all line with Merlin or SLT sets plus share line with FAX. This would block the interruptions

This is just something simple I want to try out so we can have an extra phone to answer calls in the back where we fix stuff. I will look into the cordless phones and such. Thanks again, Jeff

I dont have phones like that, but what would one of those cost? Would there be any programming required?
