In order to allow callers to get information, several dummy extensions were set up. Caller can dial 1 for company address, 2 for company directory etc.
However, there is a delay of about 4 rings before the greeting for the extension will come on. Is it possible to set it up so that when the caller presses 1 or 2, the extension greeting will be on immediately, instead of dead silence for 4 rings.( there is no music set up)

To answer a post ,scroll down past the last post and continue there
no need to make a new post for every answer
you could have answered your 12/04 post and conversation would continue.

It is also easier for members to answer if they see previous posts.

Could you redo this on your previous pII post b4 and i will delete this one.

thank you

How many modules do you have in the system? If you create your dummy extensions where there is no physical cards, the calls will cover to voice mail immediatly. That is to say, on a Partner II, valid extensions are 10 through 57. If you don't have a 2nd cabinet, or there is nothing in the last slot of the 2nd cabinet, make and Ext. 57, cover it to voice mail, and even though you can't tweak the VMS cover rings indivudally like on an ACS, it will cover in one ring.

There are 4 modules, namely : 206E Module R3.0, 206EC Module R4.1, Processor Module R3.1 and Partner Mail VS R1.0. There is only 1 cabinet.

I have used ext 20(selector code 2) for "company address", ext 30(selector code 3) for "company directory".

Can you elaborate in more details?

This is a new problem totally different from my 12/04 topic. If I put it under my 12/04 topic, how would others know that it is a separate issue and provide help to my problem? Pls comment.

OK, make a mailbox 52 and a mailbox 53, and give them Auto VMS Cover. Point Selector Code 2 to extension 52 and Selector Code 3 to 53. Record your company information in mailbox 52, and the company directory in mailbox 53.

ok
Isnt the first post yesterday @4:43 pm re the partner II and the next post this one @5:18
the same system with the same mail problem.

My point was when your trying to help someone with a problem its nice to know the previous history .

Is that a reasonable request ?

No, they are two different issues. The first one is about problems in transferring, the second one is about how to program voicemail greeting so that they will play immed instead of waiting for 4 rings.
I agree with you point, but it doesn't apply here.

There really isn't any need to post another thread, Ken is correct. Once the first problem is posted you can always post in the same thread with something like [Ok here is another problem we are having] because many times one problem may affect another. Just a suggestion

Touch Tone Tommy:
Thks for your advice. I am doing the same thing as suggested, except that I point Selector Code 2 to Ext 20 and Code 3 to Ext 30. Why it would work for Ext 52 and 53 but not 20 and 30?
Actually, in my situation, the greeting for ext 30 comes on much faster(1 ring) than ext 20(4 to 5 rings).
