I have an Avaya 406 IP Switch phone system and I have had experiencing problems with a couple phones that seemed to be dead. Nothing on the display and no dial tone.

I scheduled a time to have the manager software to reboot when free to have the phone system rebooted. We'll it cut off a couple conversations, it hasn't done this in the past and after the reboot some of the phones that were having problems before were now working...

But, some new problems arose from this reboot. Some other phones were not working now. Some of these phones that were now not working I was able to unplug them and plug them back in and it solved all but 2 that were still experiencing problems.

I then power cycled the phone system and brought it back up.

All phones are now working, but one of the original phones that was having problems. This phone is dead. I plugged it in to another connection and the phone works, so I plugged a different phone into the jack and it did not. So I am left with the line in the wall or the port in the switch. I tried to trace the line down with a cable tester, but haven't had any luck so far.

Any ideas...?

Is it a digital,IP or antilog port.

One way to check the wiring is to plug the phone staight into the switch and by pass the wiring.

It is an IP port not analog...

And I plugged another phone that is/was working directly into the port and it is still dead.

I would manualy power the system down and back up.
Do you get a link light on the switch for that port?

I have seen the digital ports do that and power down and back up would fix.

I have manually powered off the system twice and still nothing for this port...

I am also getting a little frustrated with the installers, I don't usually like to talk bad about people or organizations, but Netspeed in SF Bay Area has really let us down...

Does anyone know of a good Avaya BP in the Sacramento area?

Thanks,

Rob
