I am working on a Merlin Legend V7 system and have a few questions. I have downloaded the complete install and programming manuals - 1500+ pages, but cannot seem to find what I need after a week of reading and online research. I Found this forum last night.

The system is configured as hybrid/pbx. 2 carriers, 3-408, 1 800, 1 016, and 007 VM.

1) Fax - I want a fax line available for dial out, but dedicated to an analog port for fax use. I have read the posts on the logic of how to set it up, but need more direction on removing the line from ringing other extensions and having the fax machine dial out on this line only. line 802, pool 70.

2) Voicemail - I am not having any luck configuring the 007 voicemail card for this system. The physical location of the card is slot 1 of carrier 2, The ports are 124, 125, 126, and 127. I have tried to absorb all the info in the manuals, but it is not clicking. Can someone provide some very basic info on getting access into this. I can access the ports, but it just says "transferring" and that is it.

3) Paging - I am configuring background music and paging. I have a lucent 100w paging amp. To trigger paging, I need a contact closure. I am familiar with using a Bogen UPAM, but all I am finding now are Bogen Telephoen Access Module (TAM)s. Is there a major differnece in these - UPAM vs TAM (or TAMB)?

4) System renumbering - I want to configure 3 digit extensions, non sequential. Is this "set-up" space configuration?

Sorry for being so long winded, but these are the road blocks I have encountered. I am kinda proud I have made it this far as the system is receiving calls and dialing out, just a little ways to go.

I am trying to learn more about this system as it was given to me to "cut my teeth on" in the telecom world. Would anyone be interested in a couple of hours of "tutoring" me on the finer points of this system for a modest fee? PM or email me if interested.

my advice to you would be to get a local tech to come in and work with you to set up this system. you have too many questions and not enough technical info for anyone to advise you

how about if I limit it to the first question.

How does one stop a line in a pool from ringing an extension or group of extensions?

Then, how does one force an analog extension to dial a specific line out?

I have an installer (not programmer) helping and the system is up and running. If I can get the fax setup, I can forgo the voicemail for now as I learn more.
