Planning a partner ACS installation and wanted to fill up on some wisdom before hand.

I plan on terminating all the telephone cables to Leviton 110 jacks. I plan on terminating all 4 pairs to the 100 pair (25 locations) 110 block. These will be for the station ends. I was planning on terminating the leviton voice grade connectors using 568A since that is what I am using for all the data in the building.

I plan on terminating the connections from the phone system to another 110 block. I was planning on using 9 cat5e cables for the extensions and 2 cables for the 8 CO lines. These would be punched down and have RJ11 jacks installed on the other ends and plugged into the partner.

My quesion is what color codes do I use for the cables out of the partner?

Since I will have two extensions to one cable I was planning on using the following for the extension cables.

First extension on cable:
wht/blue, blue (pin 5, 4 on rj11)
wht/orange, orange (pin 3, 6 on rj11)

Second extension on cable:
wht/green, green (pin 5, 4 on rj11)
wht/brown, brown (pin 3, 6 on rj11)

When I cross connect these I would always cross connect them to the wht/blue,blue, wht/orange,orange on the station side of things.

Any of the professionals out here care to educate me on the proper way to do this? Am I that far off?

The Partner will ( out of the control unit use 2-pair ) on a rj-11 use the B/bw for the t/r and the O/ow for the digital features of the phone.

Rj-11 is a 4 conductor jack and a rj-45 is a 8 conductor.

If you plug a rj-11 solid patch cord into the Partner Station port you would punch the pr#1 or pins 2 and 3 on the B/bw and pr#2 or 1 and 4 on the O/ow on your 110 block. that would be one ext.

On the line ports you will only need the B/bw for 1fb lines going into the Partner as far as line ports.

568A huh. I think you probably the only one left terminating like that. 568B is much more common.

What are you doing???????/ Only 1 in 500 of our clients use A. All the rest have gained knowledge and use 568B.

I dono.. I guess I had read somewhere that 568A is the standard going forward.. I guess I should go back and re-read that..

A google search shows many comments about how 568A should be used on new installations.. However, all the hardware I bought has the 568B keys by default.. (flip for 568A)

Been in business 16 years and ran into 1 568A site. The Beta-max of the telecom cabling industry.

as long as your consistant what diffrence does it make ?

if I go to a 568b site and put in a dozen 568A they will work just the same

It will work. So will your own made up color code for termination. It's just not normally scene.
