Just installed a system(nec ds2000). . Customer has DSL & fax on line 4. Here's how I have it set up now. KSU co's are terminated on 66 blk, cross connect from KSU co port pins to a rj11 modular end that plugs into filterthat plugs into a jack. From the jack there is cross connect that goes to toe demarc. At the demarc there is cross connect that goes directly to the station cable for the fax and cross connect that goes to another jacke which plugs into that DSL modem. Fax works, Line on phone system doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. ------------------ | Capitol Communications | Telephone Systems

Have you checked the line at the jack where you are plugging in the DS-2000 with a known good Single line telephone/or Buttset?
The Co line at the demarc should go through the filter then out to the phone system and the fax.
The line for the DSL modem should go directly to the Demarc.
The whole purpose of the DSL filter is to remove the RF signal and subsequent hiss from the line so that it will not affect the analog equipment.
You can run it without the filter but the customers will complain about the hiss and some phone systems don't like the RF and harmonics caused by DSL.

Whenever possible we do not connect the DSL line to the phone system. Especially witht he DS 2000. We run it directly to the fax and then run a seperate line to the modem from the Demarc.

Have you tried differant mod plug on the trunk card, just may be the culprit?
And by the way I have several 1000/2000 installs hooked up to dsl's with no problems.

What's the quality of your filter? I've come across cheap units that do very little filtering. Others are excellent & filter so good that my butt set won't detect DSL signal on the filtered side.

It was a bad jack. Replaced it and now it works. Thanks for the quick responses. ------------------ | Capitol Communications | Telephone Systems

IMHO DSL should be installed to a stand alone line or a fax. Why would I want to add the extra headache to something I have to maintain and warranty. Unless the end user desperately needs the extra line for voice I wouldn't recommend it. Just my opinion I guess. Originally posted by twisted pair: Ok, I'm gonna bite here. Why would you say that data-tel?
