I administer an Inuity Audix 4.4 phone system. The normal AT&T MLX-10D phones (use rj45 jacks) work, but all the jacks that we set up for analog use (rj11 jacks) will not. We are doing remodeling(paint & carpet) and i have to move our EDI computer. I tried wiring an rj45 phone jack to work with an rj11 phone modem ( As shown here ), and i couldnt get it to work. So i took my old analog phone and started checking all the other rj11 jacks and none of them work either, including the one that the EDI computer was plugged into before. Any ideas why all this is not working before i call our (horrible) phone support company?

The phone system is a Merlin Legend most likely, maybe a Magix. The Audix is your voicemail. It is possible that you have a bad card, that the cabinet was knocked and it is not seated properly, there are probably 15 things that could cause the problem. You need someone to do some trouble shooting to narrow down the trouble. To start, you should find out what sytem you have and the cards that are in it.

It is a Merlin Legend System. Here is our phones Here are the cards The majority of the cards are like these, which is used for most of the phones. There was a few at the end that were labled differently. Based on the post i linked to above, i should just be able to take the blue wires and connect them to the red and green wires and get an analog phone line. Is this true? Still though the lines that were wired before for that EDI computer still dont work when i plug in the analog phone(std. house phone). TIA. Kurt

Oh, i also tried plugging the analog phone into all the cards and i dont get anything, except when i plug into card 15 (pic 4), and then i get a tone. Unfortunately if i dial just the phone number it wont work, and if i dial 9 + the number it wont work.

It is apparent that your problem goes beyond basic programming and troubleshooting.
I hope you understand that this phone system is vital to your company. Without it they are losing money. Your having to rely on an internet board like this to solve your problems is costing them money.
I would suggest that you contact a local Avaya dealer in your area ASAP. They will have your system back up in a matter of hours.
That would be a wise business decision, not putting someone with no experience in charge of something they know little about.

Also, if you are unhappy with your current service provider, have you tried locating another Avaya dealer that is nearby? You really should listen to Hal's advice. Trying to nail down the exact problem may not be very easy for you, but should not take a decent and trained tech very long at all.

This takes us back to a discussion we have had on this board many times. When picking a new phone system, give great consideration to the vendor you choose. There's a lot of great product to choose from. A good vendor might cost you more money in the initial purchase but in the end, you can avoid situations like this.

I think everyones got this one pegged, you need a tech on site to help, you're over your head, you're getting good advice, it's up to you whether or not you follow it.
