'ello all,

Our partner system here at the Rail Road is fussing at me agian. Well, actually it's the people who are at the extension that isn't right who are fussing.

When the system is on "night", and auto attendant answers, and the person calling tries to dial the extension where everybody is after hours, that extension cannot be accessed.

It gives you, "that extension cannot be accessed by the automatic message system"

It is something that "copy settings" won't fix. It is not group 7, there is a mailbox assigned to that extension, I have gone through the book, I am stumped.
What am I missing?
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Steve aka Trainwire

edited because I always think of another way to say it after I have posted it.

First, what release Partner and VM.

Are you transfering to a single extension or a calling or hunt group? And what is the caller selecting to get there, selector code or direct extension transfer?

If they are dialing the ext #, you need to make sure those selector codes are setup as direct ext transfer. Selector code 1, 2, 3, 4, and maybe 5 depending on how many ext's you have.

Its probably a setting in the voice mail. From the quote you provided, it doesn't sound like any Avaya product, so you may have a hard time finding out an answer. Please find out EXACTLY which VM you have, and repost.

Thanks for the replies

Avaya Partner ACS R6
Lucent Partner Mail R3

All of the extensions are (supposed to be) direct dial. The auto attendant answers, you punch in the extension you want, no fuss no muss, no embarrasin' questions.

Nobody's complaining about any other extension not being able to be accessed after hours.

Our system imploded coupla months ago, this extension hasn't been right since, but they only just now got around to telling me about it. :bang:

anyway, I will see about those selector codes

Thanks

shocked

What's the smiley for "doh"

Anybody know what K-I-S-S
stands for? Keep it simple stupid.

Went back to the beginning. seems a mailbox was never assigned to that extension, and the night attendant assumes a mailbox. sigh now I know.

Thanks for your willingness to help
