yes, I think it was only 10 button sets. The 5 buttons really did not get down that far in the cable count.

Spuds:

No, it using a CPC didn't cause lamp problems per se. The 2565 (6 button) sets were equipped with a special dial and switchook contacts to support the 4A speakerphone.

2564's (standard 6 button) and 2830's (10 button) didn't have a problem with CPC's or other cable sharing devices except assigning buzzers to different pairs.

Anyway, back to the 2565's, there was an adapter that connected between the phone's line cord and the incoming cable. This is also where the speakerhpone connection was made. The necessary connections for this were brought out of the phone on V/Gn, V/Bn and V/Sl. Yes, tying two of these sets together without isolating those violet pairs caused all kinds of whacky problems.

How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

I never knew that there were so many out there with 1a2 experience! Haven't been able to check this message board due to hurricane scares but did get lucky and find Key Systems manuals so I can see what this stuff really looks like. Can you believe that the only reason I am doing this is so that a phone can ring off of more than one line and I can hook up all the 564 phones around the house? Still working on getting more 50-pair cable in the meantime.

Your last post said you have 5 button rotary phones

Why the 50 pair cable ,do you also have 20 button sets.

I have often seen the diode wired inside the set.
As I remember, One must option the network inside the set from A to K or from K to A. The diode acts as the bells condenser blocking the ringging current. It was kind of crazy to learn but once you did a few it was quite simple. Oh, those vl pairs in the western electric sets would act up after a 3rd phone was cpc together. What a nightmare if you didn't have a old timer around to help you out.

Just replaced a power supply on a 30 year old key system a month ago. I was lucky enough to have one.

I figured it was a prime time to sell him a new system. Although that power supply was like hitting the lottery.

Station Specialties:

Yes, I suppose that the diode could be placed within the set if it was only for breaking out one line or so from the common ringing.

In order for any diode arrangement to work, the capacitor between network terminals A and K had to be bypassed. This was usually done by just moving the wire on terminal K to terminal A along with the existing wire.

God, I am feeling old here.

I did place the diodes in the sets for now. Hopefully will get something more realistic looking in the future!
