I have replaced the batteries in my ACS 5.0 (upgraded from 3) system twice but still get the #29 low battery message. I have checked the polarity of the batteries in the holder and have cleaned the holder contacts. Any other suggestions?
Don't know what other suggestions I could give you. If it's not the batteries then the processor has a problem. Time for a new one.

Open the card up and see if the black and red wire are connected to the circuit board.
Why wouldn't they be. Ya think mice got in there all of a sudden one night? Besides, this guy is not about to open anything up.

i had one with the same problem, the contact in the battery holder was not holding them when you slid them in correctly , when the module was apart you , and testing i could get the message to disappere what i did was use tin foil to fill up the space, no trouble since, first tried flexing the contactthat held the bat , but could never tighen it enough , or purchase a new holdder
I have seen the wires inside the processors to come free, because with a lot of the units, the wires are just pushed into the connectors. And why wouldn't you open it up?
Because he's an end user. Save the tech stuff for the techs.
